Operation Kid Brigade

It's been said that It is in the giving that we truely get. And for kids it's important to plant seeds early to not just receive, but to genuinely give just a moment of their time to others in need. By now, most of us have developed the mind-frame of giving and serving, and the Santa Clarita Valley Basket Brigade would appreciate for you and your children to reach just once more before the year ends.

Operation Kid Brigade is an e...vent to inspire our youth to understand the concept of Giving during the Holidays. This is a way to set kids up for success while receiving lots of praise and reinforcement from people for giving!

How this works: SCV Basket Brigadiers will find a location, such as a senior living center, to provide homemade holiday cards and gifts for the residents, from your children. Contact Howard to request a name (or two) for the residents your child wants to personalize a card for. The morning of Christmas Eve 2011, we will meet in a nearby parking lot to hand out the balloons to each child, and walk across the street in a massive brigade to the Senior center and surprise the residents.

If you would like your child to be involved, we will also have the children singing a few Holiday tunes for the residents.

This is the 2nd Annual Operation Kid Brigade. In 2010 we had 30 children handing out gifts and singing songs of Christmas cheer. Operation Kid Brigade was recognized by the Santa Clarita Signal and the Anthony Robbins Foundation (see In the News).
